As part of its electrification project, Caltrain has scheduled intermittent lane closures along Central Expressway near the Thompson Avenue intersection in Mountain View, starting on Thursday, May 23 and ending Friday, June 14, according to a Caltrain news release.

Traffic will be maintained in both directions during work hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while crews perform trenching work for low-voltage power connections to some of the signal houses along the railroad, a Caltrain spokesperson said.

Construction signs, illuminated directional signs and flaggers will help direct vehicles through the intersection, the news release said.

To mitigate the noise impact and disruption to surrounding communities, Caltrain plans to use “acoustical noise barrier blankets” and will position lights away from residential and commercial areas, the news release said.

Caltrain expects to begin its electrified train service along the peninsula corridor in the fall, according to its website.
