We need a new Sheriff in town.
I’ve watched Laurie Smith for her 23 years in office. For years she thinks and acts as if she is above the law - dangerous attributes for the head of law enforcement - which she should no longer be.
THe Supes should act on Simitian and Lee’s suggestions - ask the state DOJ and FPPC to investigate her and her cronies, along with the Civil Grand Jury. And somehow get her to release videos and documents to other Supervisors and the Sheriff’s Auditor, then report out to the public.
Better yet - Smith should resign now if she has any concern left for the people she is to serve and protect.

Laurie Smith has always been problematic. From only issuing concealed carry permits to campaign donors to constant poor management of the jails. Not to mention so many inmates getting Covid. However, the Sheriffs department as a whole needs reform.
