Drivers beware: Big Game will bring big traffic to Palo Alto on Saturday.

The 116th Big Game between Stanford Cardinal and the Cal Golden Bears is expected to jam up the city’s major thoroughfares, prompting a traffic advisory from the Palo Alto Police Department.

The football game at Stanford Stadium will kick off at 1 p.m. According to the police department, heavy traffic is expected starting in the mid-morning along Embarcadero Road, El Camino Real, Sand Hill Road, Alpine Road and surrounding streets.

  1. Go Stanford! I like the now unusual early afternoon start.

Traffic will still be bad, but there are a lot of cheap tickets available on secondary markets because of Cal’s horrible season and Stanford’s loss to USC last week.
