Man arrested for double homicide after Sept. 2 crash

An East Palo Alto man has been arrested on suspicion of murder for a hit-and-run crash that killed two women on their way to work at San Jose International Airport earlier this month, police said.

I read a fuller, but still confusing account in the Sunday SJ Mercury.

How does one get charged with Murder in a traffic accident? Manslaughter, and many other charges may seem warranted, but "murder"? Seems a stretch.

Hopefully this is not an (all-to common) instance of high speed police chase resulting in a fatal accident.
