Original post made on Sep 21, 2007

Essex Property Trust, Inc., isn't taking the chance that voters may reject a $50 million bond to construct a new Palo Alto police and emergency command headquarters in 2008. This should get the City moving on presenting their back-up plan if the voters reject the $50 Million Bond Measure for the Public Safety Building on Park Boulevard.

They should offer the voters the alternative of selling some surplus land in the City to raise the money for the Bond Measure. Perhaps part of the Palo Alto Airport. It's time for Staff to get creative.

Long ago the city "down-zoned" what is about half of the city to prevent property owners from using it and developing it.

This land was largely bought up by what is now the Regional Open Space District. and at a greatly reduced/bargin price.

The city could do the same thing along Park Blvd.. Then the city could buy it at a greatly reduced price and save millions of $$$.

If it worked before it can work here.
