mv-voice contains malware

Original post made by parent, Mountain View, on Jul 19, 2013

Anyone else try to visit the Mountain View Voice web site today? I'm using the Google Chrome web browser and it blocks mv-voice because of malware. I even get the message if I click on the "Mountain View Voice" link in the upper left of this page. What are they running over there that they are not running over here?

Generally, it's the ads that provoke this warning. Sometimes the servers providing the advertisements get hacked. Instead of, or in addition to the ad, a hacker places other code in the payload which can do bad things.

Most web sites get the issues with the server resolved pretty quickly, but it usually takes time for web administrator to get Google to clear the warning. The mv-voice site administrator can speed things up by visiting Web Link to verify that the site has been fixed.

Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens to even the most popular web sites.
