Question On 1970's AllNite TV Anyone Watch Channel 20 or 36 Way Back When ?

Original post made by 70s TV Watcher, Crescent Park, on Apr 26, 2013

There is something, a rather trivial thing that has been bothering me for years ... for decades.

Back in the 1970's there used to be 2 regular TV channels that broadcast all night movies. Channel 20 KEMO with Jay Brown's Spartan Dodge All-Night Theater ... I think it was, and Channel 36 (I forget the call letters) with 3M Theater with the Old Sourdough and Wachikanokee his native American sidekick.

Being a kid back then I used to love to stay up late and watch these movies, and at the end of the day ... they would sign off, even though it was supposed to be all-night. This was before they would bombard everyone with all-night commercials. TV used to be OK sometimes.

It's the sign-off video I am trying to find out about, and I think it was for Channel 36 ... but it might have been Channel 20.

There was a song and an animation in which I recall a bird flying with more or less uplifting and inspirational lyrics about people getting along and not fighting and during the animation part of it was two robots fighting in a boxing ring, a black one and a white one ... at least I think ... it was so old at the time I did not even have a color TV! Imagine that?

Can anyone recall this, and if so do you have any idea what the video or song I am thinking of was? I would love to be able to search You-Tube to see if the video is there somewhere and if I can recall it, and the music was something I fondly remember and would like to find out the name and if the audio is for sale anywhere.

Sorry to interrupt and thanks for reading. Fingers crossed.

36 was KICU? Dunno.

For a while it was "The Perfect 36" with Carol Doda doing promos. It made an impression on a young preteen male.... and later as a teen... :-)

Can't help you with the video. Sounds like a job for youtube.

I remember Carol Doda, the Perfect 36.
I think this was after she was the "mascot" of the channel.
They had great movies on at that time.
Sherlock Holmes theater, old sic-fi, bogart film festival.
I've tried searching and looking on You-Tube, but I don't have much to go on.
I just have a snippet or two of the lyrics, but mostly just the recall of "something".
Sure would like to know what that was.
I used to like TV back then, even with commercials it was better than it is today, or at least most of it.

They showed the Lina Wertmuller flick, "Swept Away" on channel 36 at about 3:00am back in 1979. What a shock that was for a college girl pulling an all-mightier studying!

That is such a great movie. I would not get much studying done if that movie was on. I remember seeing so many great movies back then ... the only price was waking up tired as heck the next day!
