No bail for Half Moon Bay accused shooter, DA considers death penalty

The 66-year-old man accused of gunning down seven people and critically injuring one other at two mushroom farms earlier this week made his initial court appearance Wednesday.

I thought death was no longer allowed in CA? Zhao already suggested that he has mental problems, so his attorney will doubtless use this for some kind of plea. Wagstaffe is grandstanding.

There is a moratorium on the death penalty in CA, but that doesn't mean that a prosecutor can't seek the death penalty. Anyone who commits a mass murder deserves the death penalty. Wagstaffe is doing his job as a prosecutor.

He wouldn't be a "flight risk" if you kept him and others in jail.
