This has been a charming addition to Midtown particularly where it is situated near to Baskin Robbins and can be looked at while eating ice cream. The community garden was there but it has been cleared and if it wasn't for BR using it for decor to make a great photo op, then it would just be weeds.
Places that are charming are not valued by City Council or boards. They just want to get them dozed, scrapped, or turned into money making zoos or ugly libraries. Our old zoo was lovely, our old library was lovely, can we keep this place as it is.

In the 30 years I’ve lived here I’ve only seen the poetry mural twice. It’s in a narrow alley and occasional cars pass through. It’s not a pedestrian area. It would be a waste of $28,000 dollars to do anything on that wall. If the City wants to create some art in midtown, invite proposals from artists, including location. There has to be a better location—somewhere we can all see and enjoy it. There’s fabulous public art in Los Altos. Invite some of their artists to propose something for midtown.

How about replacing the poetry and using the wall as a large advertising billboard that promotes Palo Alto businesses and products?
Rent could then be charged for advertising space making the former poetry wall a revenue-generating entity.
