I strongly support the Legislator and the Governor creating a statuatory Voting Day Holiday for CA. But in return, they must eliminate at least one State Holiday because CA already has too many official holidays compared to Federal Holidays (11 vs 10). Voting Day Holiday would make it 12 vs 10, and that's even more too much. I've looked at a list of CA State Holidays, and the one that stands out the most is Caesar Chavez Day. I'd most humbly suggest that we combine Caesar Chavez Day with Labor Day since Chavez was a labor organizer. Or maybe we could combine it with MLK Day and call it "Civil Rights" day since both were civil rights leaders --- Susan B Anthony was even more important to set matters straight. Maybe we could include her too? For those of you who might dare to protest at this common sense proposal, Presidents' day represents two of our four greatest Presidents --- Washington and Lincoln --- both of whom were far more important than Chavez. The other two? Jefferson and FDR. I'd like to include them in Presidents' day too.

Why do only public employees (including those who work at banks) get designated California state holidays off with pay?

Shouldn't these state holidays apply to everyone?
