Dreadful, the amount of crime on a daily basis in Palo Alto. Something seriously needs to be done to stop this.

The security guard at the mall got the plate number, but it was a stolen plate from Oakland that didn't match a black Honda.

Palo Alto has become an easy target for crime, and it's getting worse.

The criminals were described as "unknown age with ski masks."

We seem to be attracting criminals from Oakland

Why are we attracting criminals from Oakland?

Because for years PA has gotten such bad press as a rich, entitled community?

For that we need to thank former PTC commissioner Kate Downing, Palantir and her various backers for her incessant well-funded "pr" campaign" that Pat Burt claimed PA doesn't even want start-ups when what he REALLY said was that big companies like her employer Palantir was pricing start-ups out of the downtown rental market.

And that drum is still being beat daily even though PA is about half renters unlike other communities, even though PA is the only community without a business tax, etc.

Just look at all the money the PA Chamber of Commerce, Silicon Valley Leadership Group and the city itself is spending on that campaign.

This is scary! Demand our government representatives increase police services. Money is allocated to plenty of nonsense programs at city, county and state levels of our CA government; I can’t think of anything more immediate and relevant to the public than Public Safety! Prioritize that! Please email all your representatives.

Also: immediately increase bail, criminal penalty for such outrageous criminal activity (state level, so contact your state senator and state assembly member)!

Prosecute these crimes!

The recent defund-the-police actions taken by our government entities in CA is harming the public! We are at risk!
“Community policing” and other “feel good” funding lavished around with little accountability to,the taxpayer does not protect the public!
It’s now crystal clear OUR representatives must represent US and do their duty to stop these criminals. LA Times, etc. says criminals even blithely come in from South America to rob here!

How about enforcing the sanctity of our country’s borders?

The “no bail” fad of liberal CA politicians is putting dangerous suspects promptly back out onto our streets.

Ultra-liberal politicians are also playing down gang activity (our governor backtracked when spoke on problem of gang activity since current liberal politicians wish to remove all gang-enhancement charges for the sake of political correctness.)

Many of these crimes ARE gang-related professional criminals and they should be arrested, have high bail AND be prosecuted strenuously.

Weak DA Chesa Boudin and LA DA George Gascon have really hurt Californians. I hope both are recalled by sensible voters in their major CA cities. Millions of us are close nearby enough to be affected by their policies which are highly sympathetic to criminals and suspects. It’s easy enough to read Sfgate and other local legitimate news media to link government policies with regional and state criminal activity that threatens our safety.

I mostly agree with @Anonymous. If Boudin weren't facing a recall, I doubt he and the other DA would have bothered with their long overdue fight against all the predatory, unjustified ADA lawsuits against small businesses. It shouldn't take a recall to make them do what's right.
