Biden on Trump: 'We've got to save capitalism from this guy'

Original post made on Oct 4, 2019

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden took jabs at President Donald Trump during a campaign fundraiser in downtown Palo Alto on Thursday afternoon, citing his own versatile resume as an advantage should the two face off in 2020.

Well, you kind of have to save Capitalism from the Republicans, don't we? They've made it all about lies and power tricks, intimidation, and self- and outright deception, to avoid the very thing they claim they want to protect, the honing forces of the marketplace, of ideas (or anything else).

Nowadays, they cry that they can't say what they really think because they can't tell the difference between the kind of intimidation that the Right does of people on the Left in their midst (which group is responsible for pretty much all the domestic terrorism with guns?) and what it feels like to deal with someone who disagrees with them and destroys their false ideology and framing with facts and history. The latest is crying "fake news" so they neither have to take responsibility for the actual fake news phenomenon from the Right (and Russia) nor hear truth spoken to power and false framing. They've gone so long using tricks and lies to get power, and pulled so far to the Right, they don't even know what the very things they claim to value even looks or feels like anymore: the marketplace, fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, family values, etc etc

I mean, conditions have become so bad, it's now exactly the kind of conditions that result in 3rd parties. But for one to be successful, it would have to resemble the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower more than Reagan, who was really the one who set us on this path of Republicans becoming nothing but shills for cutting top tax rates whatever it takes (and entrenching the unearned power of concentrations of wealth we fought a Revolution and established our nation to shake free of).

I would have voted for him in 2016. He should just write a tell-all book about the Clintons, how she denied him that presidential run and all the other sketchy dealings that they try to hide from everyone.

Don't fuss about where Charlottesville is located...Biden knows where Washington, D.C. is located. Unfortunately, I don't think he will get the chance to live there in the White House. I've always liked him as a decent person, a straight shooter. He tells it like it is, but with a much nicer tone than nasty Trump, and he has a sense of humor. He was my favorite candidate years ago when he made a run for it. He might have too much baggage from his 8 years as VP to get the nomination, however, and his younger competitors are eager and hungry. It was nice that he did a short stop in PA. Made local Dems proud!

So, like, Trump was looking to gain information on what appears to be a major (and treasonous) corruption, and now the Democrats want to impeach him for that, and elect the criminal at the core of the corruption? Is this Bizarro World? Biden threatened to withhold funding that had been promised to Ukraine, unless Ukraine fired the prosecutor investigating a company that cocaine-addict Hunter Biden worked at (for $50K/month). Hunter was CLEARLY hired by that company for a job he was not at all qualified for and paid that huge salary so that his daddy would rescue the company from the probe. How can you blame Trump for being interested? He darned well SHOULD have been. All he wanted was for the Ukrainians to restart that investigation Biden shut down. Biden is the definition of "The Swamp", and he just proved it.

Trump breaks the law, announcing it to the world, on the White House lawn.

@justme couldn't care less about US law, instead she says: "But - emails! But - someone's son!"

Well, then.

Biden has zero chance of getting the nomination. Anyone with an ounce of grey matter under their skull can see that he used his influence to secure an outrageous income for his son. He should be investigated. He is part of the corruption that is Washington DC, both parties included. He doesn't seem to want this anyway. He's tried and lost several times. Too old and losing it.

This is great - Trump publicly admits breaking the law.

But: Biden! (with no substantiated facts, of course.) Biden's old!

Biden and Trump are both over 70. And neither will be president in 2021.

Biden OBVIOUSLY committed a treasonable act in the interest of his son. That much is clear.

Amazing - Trump has a job - the definition of which is to interact with foreign countries regarding the provision of funds and intellectual property, trade agreements. That is his JOB. Meanwhile the people running for the D party also have jobs that the taxpayer is paying them for but they are not doing the job they are paid for - they are using taxpayer money to run around the country for a political job that they do not have at this point in time. It is Congresses JOB to do the business for the country - bridges, roads, poverty, etc. It is not their JOB to interfere with the President who is doing his JOB of running the country and our international relationships.

Mr. Sciff's congressional district is the home base for many former Russian controlled states, including Ukraine and Armenia. I used to live in that district and am very familiar with the interactions he has with the various groups that are now resident in that district. He supports a number of funds that provide support for those countries. Your local legislators are very familiar with that and are included in that group. Since I donate to some of those groups I am knowledgeable as to the congressional support he provides.

The questions on the table are what happened when Mr. Biden held a JOB and if the taxpayer was ripped off at that time - are we funding the Ukraine so they can turn around and give money to his son who has no background or experience in the position given to him? A huge amount of money changing hands there. Follow the money. And the taxpayer is paying for it all.
Many false equivalencies here - An actual job vs a desire for a job. And Ms. Pelosi is making things up here - her agenda is very clear.

"What law did Trump break?"

Trump asked multiple countries to interfere in the 2020 election. Publicly. THis week. Mounting evidence appears to show complicity by Pence, Barr, various appointees, Rick Perry, etc..

FEC, June 2019:

"Statement Regarding Illegal Contributions From Foreign Governments
June 13, 2019

Let me make something 100% clear to the American public and anyone running for public office: It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election.1 This is not a novel concept. Electoral intervention from foreign governments has been considered unacceptable since the beginnings of our nation.

Our Founding Fathers sounded the alarm about “foreign Interference, Intrigue, and Influence.”
They knew that when foreign governments seek to influence American politics, it is always to
advance their own interests, not America’s. Anyone who solicits or accepts foreign assistance risks being on the wrong end of a federal investigation. Any political campaign that receives an offer of a prohibited donation from a foreign source should report that offer to the Federal Bureau of Investigation"

The US provides financial support, military support, and other social support functions for other countries. There is a huge budget associated with support to other Countries. That is part of the JOB. The President - who ever has that JOB - is in charge of making sure that money provided to other countries is used for an intended purpose that all have agreed on. It is not intended for enriching family foundations and their children on the hopes that further aid will be provided.
Trump is not getting paid - his children have their won JOBS - and he does not now have a foundation that is suckering other countries on the hopes of further US aid.

Many of these investigations were started before Biden decided to run in this political campaign. The investigations are relevant to what type of money transfers were conducted in the previous years to make sure we do not keep making that mistake. It is called doing good business with other countries. The fact that Biden decided to run points up a parallel set of facts that are on the table now. It is his history on decision making while in office.

It's against THE LAW.

Those willing to condone foreign interference in American elections continue to bring up all sorts of noise (without facts;) by doing so they support foreign interference in American elections. Call them what you will - clearly they side with party before patriotism. I prefer patriotism.

Support THE LAW. Support the Founding Fathers. Don't be distracted.

Authors of Federalists papers and Washington's Farewell Address:

- George Washington
- James Madison
- Alexander Hamilton

Authors of the bogus Biden noise:
- Rudy Guilliani
- Donald Trump

Easy choice. May God Bless America.

I am trying very hard to understand this situation. I saw footage that trump suggested China look into the Biden’s. How does this equate to “asking to interfere in an election”?

Truly, I don’t understand. Wouldn’t we, as citizens, WANt to know if ANY official has inappropriate dealings with foreign gov’t?

Trump is not looking for "political dirt" - he is looking for international transactions which indicate funds not being used as directed. It is taxpayer money. That is in direct opposite position to the 2016 campaign in which the DNC hired a foreign agency to dig up dirt on DT. What happened in that case was the DNC looking to find dirt.
You are basing your comments on the idea that Biden is the candidate - he is not the candidate at this time - he is a person who is trying to dig up his own dirt to be the candidate.

You have a hard time producing equivalent situations since there is no equivalency. One is misuse of taxpayer money that has already occurred. The other is desperation for lack of a strong candidate that is up to working international transactions which are part of the job.

And we are going to support the law. Every one has a job title and job description. And that is not up to the desperate ones to try and sabotage.

"...Biden is the candidate - he is not the candidate..."

Whaaaaa? Your desperation to excuse Trump's lawbreaking is effecting your thinking ability, or lack thereof. Biden is not only a candidate, he is beating Trump in most key states, hence Trump's breaking the law to get another country to make up dirt on Biden. Web Link

I didn’t hear him “asking to dig up dirt”. I heard him specifically suggest “look into Biden”. How is that illegal? There is so much he said she said I really am trying to figure out what the hell is going on here. I don’t know which side to believe but at this point I can’t find anything strong enough to indict or put it all on Trump. It’s all such a cluster f$#* but again, I’m trying to be very open and look at both sides.

“That user name” you keep saying Trump asked China to “dig up dirt”. Your words specifically but where ever were those Trumps words? If we’re going to have a discussion we need to be fully accountable and not project opinions. Can you direct me
To a video of Trump saying “dig up dirt”?

How specifically does that comment break the law? Or how does it equate to interfering into an election? I’m not being facetious or argumentative here, I am asking with all due respect.

Asking a foreign government to investigate a top political rival, how does it break the law or interfere with an election?

"I’m not being facetious or argumentative here"

Yes, you are. You know it. I know it. Any semi-literate reader knows it.

Again, no I’m not, I’m asking a very straight-forward question. And you have yet to answer it, you have only accused me of being partisan and political. Frankly I’m trying very hard not to be, I’m trying to get straight forward answers. I have listened to CNN, MSNBC, Fox, NPR, PBS, I honest to god can’t figure out what the hell is going on here.

If Trump or Biden, either one, have done something illegal or with corruption, then it needs to come out. But it can’t be laced with innaccruate, made up statements [portion removed.] It has got to be with full FACT and legality.

It is really really sad that you continue to claim “partisan politics” while I have continued to ask for FACT and LEGALITY.

What was "made up"?

Look, I don’t like Trump. I don’t like his behavior or his way of speaking. But it’s one thing to not like something and it’s another for it to be illegal. We have GOT to sto these accusatory, inflammatory political. Statements and look at reality and what is really happening.

What law did he break?

Bottom line - if the President talks to any other nation that he is currently engaged in regarding financial matters then he does get to ask how money we have provided in the past is being spent. That is his JOB.
When Biden was VP he talked to China and the Ukraine regarding financial matters. Because it was his JOB. The issue is how effective was he doing his JOB.
