Stanford women earn season opening soccer win at Penn State

Junior Catalina Macario sparked Stanford’s season opener Friday, scoring twice as the third-ranked Cardinal women’s soccer team jolted No. 6 Penn State 2-1 in State College, PA before a crowd of 5,238.

Your readers might be interested to know the reason Sophia Smith didn't play. She was one of two college players called up to the U23 USWNT to play in the 2019 Nordic Tournament in England this week.
