Wait a minute, I take issue to the line “donations solicited” in that they come through the audience with buckets which is different than when I call someone on behalf of my alma mater and say please give to the old school and this is important because for whatever reason city staff kicked them out of Mitchell Park on this point.

Third take on this: SF Mime Troupe is a non profit 501c3 arts organization that publishes its pro forma on its website — roughly $300,000 costs for the season. It is primarily funded by grants and tax-deductible donations. That they pass a tip jar (and, I guess sell t-shirts) suddenly became problematic to City Of Palo Alto and that forced the cancellation of our shows here, and then the switch from Mitchell Park to Cubberley, which is a bit of a cold shoulder.
So, as a fan of SFMT and sometime donor, I do bristle at your phrase “donations solicited”. It’s a FREE SHOW.
