How to use Ross Roundabout

Original post made by Ross Roundabout, JLS Middle School, on Feb 3, 2018

Now that the roundabout on Meadow and Ross is functioning as a roundabout although it is still unfinished, it is important to tell your young bicyclists how to use a roundabout.

1. Traffic already on roundabout has right of way.
2. Stopping is only necessary to yield to traffic already on roundabout.
3. Always turn right onto the roundabout even if it means you have to pass 2
other exits.
4. Never, ever, go round the roundabout the wrong way.

When everyone gets used to roundabouts and use them correctly they are much safer than 4 way stops.

Additionally, all traffic approaching a roundabout should signal ultimate exit, in other words if you are turning left or using the third exit, signal left approaching roundabout and continue signal until you have passed second exit then change to right signal. This should be done by bikes as well as cars.
