Hansen leaves Stanford softball program for nonprofit endeavor

Rachel Hanson came to Stanford at a difficult time. She's leaving the program in much better shape. Hanson stepped down as head coach of the Stanford softball team to pursue other professional opportunities, Stanford Director of Athletics Bernard Muir announced Tuesday.

Another bad hire by Muir. John Rittman was a great coach and produced great teams. When problems arose in the program, Muir failed to back his coach and, instead, gave into the parents. This is the result. Had Rittman remained, Stanford would be competing for conference titles and berths in the World Series. The parents can't run the team.
