Former Stanford forward and current Seattle Sounders FC striker Jordan Morris was one of 26 players called by Jurgen Klinsmann on Sunday for a pair of upcoming World Cup qualifiers as the United States looks to seal a place in the Hexagonal round.
The U.S. travels first to face St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sept. 2 (13:30 p.m. PT – beIN SPORT). Four days later, the MNT closes out Group C action against Trinidad & Tobago (5 p.m. PT – FS1, UniMas).
Heading into the last two matches, the United States sits in second place in the group on seven points, three behind T&T and one ahead of Guatemala.
The MNT has its destiny in its own hands, since two wins would guarantee a spot in the Hexagonal. If the U.S. wins Friday and Trinidad beats Guatemala that day, the Americans move on with one match to go.
Morris, the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy winner, is tied for the team lead with eight goals thus far in his rookie professional campaign.
He has appeared nine times for the MNT and in November 2014 became the first active collegian to do so since 1995 when he came on in the 76th minute in a friendly against Ireland in Dublin.
Morris started and scored against Mexico in a friendly win on April 15, 2015. The United States is 6-2-1 in matches featuring Morris.
Fellow Cardinal and Sounder Chad Marshall holds the Stanford program record with 11 caps for the USMNT.
