Sept. 19 - Interpreting the Common Core test results

Original post made by Asm. Rich Gordon, Los Altos, on Sep 17, 2015

After much anticipation, the California Department of Education released the results of the Smarter Balanced Assessments Sept. 9. This flood of data may be simultaneously overwhelming and revealing about what and how our children are learning.

Please join Assemblyman Rich Gordon, Dr. Michael Kirst (President of the California State Board of Education) and other education leaders on Sept. 19 to interpret these fresh results and discuss how we can best benefit from the tests.

Is the new online standardized test of Common Core principles working? What did we learn from this year of testing? We will also delve into technical problems, opt-outs, whether there is evidence that children are mastering Common Core concepts and what can be improved.

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund

For the last 26 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away more than $7 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. When you make a donation, every dollar is automatically doubled, and 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
