Voting for Greg Scharff

Original post made by Scharrfs election, College Terrace, on Nov 5, 2014

After reading the following comment from Scharff in tonight's post-election news, I realize what a mistake I had made in voting for him:

"Managing growth, slowing down office development, all of that stuff takes time and I think we were already doing that," Scharff said. "I don't really see that there will be a change in direction in the council. I think we will just continue to move forward in the same direction we've been moving."

Now we will have to begin work on voting him out next election. Note that he provides no way to send comments to him on his website!

Well, remember it for next time. He is pro-developer when he wants their money, and anti developer when he wants your vote.

Mr Recycle

What do you think you are voting for when you are voting for a real estate lawyer, which is what Greg Scharff is!!!!! Before voting, it is very important to read up on candidates.

Ooops, my comment was not directed at Mr Recycle, but rather at the original poster. Sorry, Mr Recycle.

I'm not surprised having followed his statements.

I wonder how the PA Weekly and others that rushed to endorse him while censoring all substantive discussions of the candidates and their stances feel.

I read his comment as :

a) we have already slowed development and growth
1) evidence: Greg already proposed scrapping PC zoning

B) he feels we should continue down this path. No Change.

This isn't really that difficult of a quote to parse. I think you may be seeing an enemy you imagine, rather than a person who basically shares your goals.

Remember, he assured us that when when completed, the Cal Ave. project will be spectacular! Yep, broken beer bottles embedded in concrete! His legacy at last!

Scharf's pre-election rebirth as a "residentialist" was a pretty obvious, and cynical move to retain his PACC seat... guess it worked.

Dear Online Name,

You wrote ".. I wonder how the PA Weekly and others that rushed to endorse him while censoring all substantive discussions of the candidates and their stances feel..."

You violated the terms of use. Concurrent thoughts about the PA Weekly and censoring is a severe violation of the terms of use.

Palo Alto citizens have spoken.

It is for the city council to act accordingly.

Hope Greg Scharff will act accordingly. We know it takes a few days for this to sync.

Respectfully

"Now we will have to begin work on voting him out next election."
By all means do that. Especially considering he will be termed out in 4 years!!!

"Note that he provides no way to send comments to him on his website!"
You can easily contact him via the e-mails posted on the Council website:

Looks like the ballots have not been completely counted yet and we are already having attacks on the council members. Considering that he got the second most votes of any candidate, he can't be too unpopular. I think ll this negativity is being driven by a small group of posters on this forum.
Next time, Scharrfs election, do your homework before voting

Well stated, online name, regarding the weekly and the removal of all substantive comments about the candidates.
Clearly the weekly has made a mockery of open discussion during election season.

Actually the latest count has Scharff now down to 3rd after Tom Dubois.

Re contacting him, he never once responded to any of my emails directed to the City Council about specific problems.

Is there any process for a recall petition? If enough citizens feel that a council member is representing special interests, not them, we should be able to recall that councillor, I would think.

I'm not suggesting that we do that for anyone, just asking.
