Stifling public discourse while trying to control the election

Original post made by Concerned voter, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Oct 20, 2014

This topic was limited from the beginning:

And now all the civil comments, that were critical of the Weekly's chosen few, have been deleted.

Clearly with the "new" town square, the editor and his staff are using it as an excuse to stifle public discourse and to try to influence the election results.
Desperate times call for desperate measures by the Weekly.

I don't see the "stifling" of views. In fact, it has been one of the few times this site and the attendant paper publications have actually given a good deal of space to both sides of the issues.

BUT this has been the nastiest campaign this area has experienced in many years. Bizarre off-topic charges and hysteria seem to dominate. Both sides should be ashamed.

I'm an outsider with no immediate stake in MP political issues, but as an academic I have been observing the behavior during this election with keen interest.....and TOTAL DISMAY.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
