Saw this today. Of the newer "Planet of the Ape" movies, I think this is probably the best one.

Still, somehow, for me anyway, I like the first "Planet Of The Apes" movie with Charlton Heston best. Nothing anyone does in a movie is going to make a talking ape look realistic, and the more computer precise they get the weirder it seems to get for me. I liked the ridiculous ape suits and found it easier to suspend my disbelief with the more fantastic story of the first movie.

The more human acting and a more science fiction plot of the original, not to mention the "shocking" conclusion. Having seen it when it came out it really had an effect, like 2001: A Space Odyssey before it. The new movies just seem trite and over the top, always predictably packed with as much action and violence as possible. Still, this movie is not bad, I think driven by the lead actor who was not a crazy mad scientist or action adventure hero type.
