Free public transit on New Year's Eve

Starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 5 a.m. on New Year's Day, SamTrans will let people ride for free on all bus lines. Caltrain is following suit with extra trains.

Thanks to the transit agencies for doing this, and for all who help to keep those who have been drinking off the roads.

Hopefully 2014 will be a year where public transit in the Bay Area will turn round and improve their service provision to enable many more to use it on a regular basis.
