The two brothers vilified in court documents by Bulos “Paul” Zumot and his murdered girlfriend, Jennifer Schipsi, have been cleared by police of any involvement in Schipsi’s death Oct. 15.

They have expressed condolences to her family.

In a brief press statement issued through their attorney, Tony and Hisham Ghanma said that on behalf of their family they “would like to express their deepest and most heartfelt sorrow to the family and friends of Jennifer Schipsi.”

Zumot was arrested Monday evening for homicide and arson relating to her death. Her body was discovered when Palo Alto firefighters were dousing a bedroom fire at 969 Addison Street early Thursday evening, Oct. 15.

The brothers in court documents filed this month were accused of harassing Schipsi. But they described her as “a friend.”

Attorney Robert G. Cummings of Redwood City said in the press release that the brothers “genuinely loved Jennifer for the warm and wonderful person that she was and considered her a friend.

“Their thoughts and prayers are with her family during this horrible tragedy.

“At this time, to preserve the integrity of the investigation and ongoing prosecution of Bulos Zumot, the Ghanmas do not wish to release any further information.

“The Ghanma family would like to thank the Palo Alto Police Department for the respect afforded to them during their thorough investigation of this matter and express their appreciation for their swift efforts in pursuing justice,” the release concluded.

  1. HOMOCIDE- c’mon.Spellcheck if you don’t know how to spell things. This misspelling was in the original headline several days ago, and now—again. Brilliant!

  2. Everyone who is commenting on mis-spelled
words needs to get a life. This is a tragedy and
how ridiculous to waste time and worry about
a trivial thing in the midst of this horrific story.

Worry about the bigger things in life. I’m sure it
is the last thing friends and family of the victim
are concerned with on this story. Why don’t
you say words of condolence and worry about
    the bigger picture.

  3. I don’t get it … these brothers were accused of “harrassing” this women, and yet they considered her their friend? Does that make any sense? What does friendship mean these days anyway? With friends like these … ??

  4. It doesn’t make sense to me either. The brothers were identified as people that caused such troublesome behavior towards the victim and her boyfriend, so much so that COURT documents were filed. Now, it’s like it never happened.

Either it was true that they caused problems to the victim and her boyfriend, or it wasn’t. Seems like a loose end and the press & the police are letting it go.

Are restraining orders just becoming fashionable among high-strung Middle Easterners? I lost track of how many were filed, and against whom.

Somewhere I read the boyfriend had a friend on the PAPD and another contact w/ the FBI and he was using that against the brothers, as a threat. Whatever happened with that? I remember reading the brothers had to defend themselves against those threats.

This is pathetic and overall, oh so weird. The truth (whatever it be) is stranger than fiction. I apologize in advance for any words not spelled correctly. No spell check feature here.

  5. ANON,
you don’t know the whole story so just wait till the results come out …
and yes she was a good friend to them . all this started from a consensual kiss between her and one of the brothers and ever since
the friendship between them and this guy ended. and since then he started fabricating things because he dint want her to have any contact with them.
the truth will be out but it wont be enough for the poor girls family…whats done is done and there is no jenny that they can bring back to life.

  6. AS IF … if you know something you should spill it. This story gets weirder and weirder. There are just some people who go through life like random guided missiles and one knows they are going to blow up at some point with someone. I’ve met them before and it is no fun to see them bulldoze innocent people until they go one step too far.

But this guy really takes the cake. Some people start with this kind of stuff early on in life and escalate … what I wonder is how is it that people are attracted and get involved with psychopaths?

What is the reality here? Who filed for the restraining order, the guy? If this turns out to be what it looks like I hope they throw every last book at him. Very sorry for the family and real friends of this woman. Some people have posted some anecdotal stories about his guy’s character and it was amazing.
