It's shocking to see the absolute dollars taken from the Santa Clara County mental health budget, compared to other service cuts.
Little by little, cuts like this make the mentally ill even more 'invisible' than they already are - not to mention the long-term price we pay for not blostering programs that both prevent and treat the most common diseases of all - depression and enxiety disorders. As usual, it's the most vulnerable people who lose services first. This is poor public policy, lacking vision.
