It is utterly unconscionable that the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce is honoring Dr. Cody with an award. Dr. Cody's legacy has been the utter devastation of human life. Her policies have destroyed innumerable small businesses while Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, etc. were allowed to stay open with hundreds inside. [Portion removed.]

Oh, my goodness, get a grip. We owe a huge thanks to Dr. Cody, who was way ahead of this horrible disease and saved many lives. Experience as an epidemiologist informed her many years in public health, her leadership efforts and collaborations with other county health officers together provided the best and safest way out of this pandemic here in the Bay Area. I'm grateful she's our public health officer and we all owe her a great deal of respect. Honoring Dr. Cody as a Tall Tree recipient is a small but wonderful way we can show we appreciate that she dedicated over 2 years of her life to keeping Santa Clara County one of the lowest death rates from COVID. Thanks to the Chamber and the Weekly.
