PLANT PROBLEMS? ... Master Gardeners are on hand from 1 to 4 p.m. every Friday to answer questions on home gardening through their Master Gardener Hotline. Information: Call 650-329-1356.

PLANT SWAP ... A free plant-trading day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, on the patio of the Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma St., Menlo Park. Bring extra clippings or plants and go home with new ones. (Plants will be coming in throughout the trading day.) Information: www.menlopark.org

WEED WARRIORS ... Volunteers are needed to restore habitat at the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Gateway Facility, down the trail from the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve parking lot at 1530 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, just north of Page Mill Road. Information: stewardship@acterra.org

QUILTING BASICS ... Christine Hopkins will teach a class on "Beginning Quilting" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, July 8-29, at the Gymnastics Center, 501 Laurel St., Menlo Park. The class will deal with the basics of quilting — tools and techniques, cutting and piecing blocks, sewing the quilt top and finishing it off. Cost is $85 for non-Menlo Park residents, $64 for residents, plus $5 materials fee; sewing machines may be used during class for $20. MAKE A SUCCULENT WREATH ... Robin Stockwell will teach a class on "Succulent Wreath Making" from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 19, at Filoli, 86 Canada Road, Woodside. Students can expect to go home with materials and know-how to complete a 12-inch wreath (most will not be completed in class).
