Aaron Morgan scored a goal in the first minute of play and the Menlo School boys’ soccer team made it stand for a 1-0 victory over visiting University-San Francisco on Friday.

The Knights (1-1-1) host Overfelt (2-0-1) in a nonleague match Monday at 3:30 p.m.

In girl’s soccer action, Castilleja topped host Urban, 2-1, in a nonleague match Friday.

Lauren Ashby recorded a goal and an assist for the Gators (2-0), who are next in action on Jan. 9, with a West Bay Athletic contest against Eastside College Prep at El Camino Park in Palo Alto at 3:30 p.m.

ECP is also 2-0 after beating host KIPP Collegiate, 4-0, earlier in the week.

Hannah Ashby assisted on Lauren’s goal. Amanda Khu also scored for Castilleja, who have 12 freshmen on the roster.

Girls basketball

Denise Stine scored 12 points and Sacred Heart Prep rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat Aragon, 53-51, in the semifinals of The King’s Academy Tournament on Friday.

Charlotte Levison and Grace Battles each added 11 points for the Gators (3-0), who advanced to Saturday’s championship.

Also at the tournament, Castilleja (2-5) lost to Fremont, 31-26. Sammy Wong scored 11 points to lead the Gators, who were slated to meet Del Mar on Saturday. Katie Fearon and Lauren Sibley combined for another 10 points.

Palo Alto (0-2) fell to visiting Carlmont, 48-33, in a nonleague game Friday. The Vikings are playing Lincoln-San Jose at Leland High on Saturday.

Gunn lost, 52-44, in the Terra Nova Tournament on Friday night. The Titans (1-5) are slated to play Envision Academy-Oakland on Monday, Dec. 18.

Menlo-Atherton lost to Clovis West, 68-21, on Friday as part of the Elite Showcase at Laney College. Carly McLanahan led the Bears (1-3) with seven points. M-A was scheduled to meet St. Francis in the Showcase on Saturday.

Boys basketball

Pinewood (4-2) beat St. Bernard’s, 65-60, at the Cloverdale Tournament on Friday night. The Panthers meet host Cloverdale at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Eastside College Prep (6-0) remained unbeaten after fending off a second-half charge from visiting Alma Heights, 54-53. The Panthers are scheduled to meet College Prep in Oakland on Saturday.

Menlo-Atherton (1-2) dropped a 54-43 decision to Las Lomas in the Amador Valley Tournament. The Bears have a nonleague home game set for Dec. 21 against Sacred Heart Prep (2-4).
