Panthers get the better of Tigers in girls hoops event

 

Ila Lane recorded her third consecutive double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and the Priory girls basketball team beat host Notre Dame-Belmont, 47-35, to earn the consolation championship of the Steve Geramoni Tournament in Belmont on Saturday.

Lane, an all-tournament selection, finished the three-day event with 54 points and 43 rebounds for the Panthers (4-6), who next play at the Miramonte Elite is Earned Showcase on Jan. 6. Priory meets Salesian (5-1).

Dominique Robson added 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers. Tatiana Reese added 14 points, six rebounds and eight assists. She also hit three 3-pointers. Annabelle North also hit a 3-pointer.

Castilleja (3-5) will be in action on Tuesday, with a first-round Seaside Sweet 16 tournament matchup with St. Mary's Academy-Inglewood (5-5) at 6 p.m.

The Eastside College Prep Coaches vs. Cancer Challenge opens on Thursday, with the host Panthers joined by Menlo-Atherton, Menlo and Sacred Heart Prep.

Pinewood and Palo Alto are entered in the St. Francis Holiday Tournament that also begins Thursday.
