MARKET REPORT ... According to a new report from Coldwell Banker, the Silicon Valley luxury-home market saw a rise in both total sales and the median sales price in November year-over-year. A total of 68 residential properties priced $3 million and higher were sold last month, a 58 percent increase from 43 sales in November 2016 and up from 54 closings in October 2017. The median price for luxury properties sold in November rose to $3.633M from $3.550M in November of 2016, a gain of 2.3 percent. The price was also up from $3.6225M in October 2017. The data is based on sales transactions recorded in Santa Clara County by the Multiple Listing Service. Sales in the upper end of the market remained steady. Of the luxury home sales in November2017, 34 were homes priced $4 million and higher, a rise from only 20 in the prior year’s month and 18 in October 2017. The most expensive home sale in Silicon Valley in November was a 5,440-square-foot home in Los Altos with four bedrooms and five baths that brought in $18.6M after 53 days on the market.

LEARN HOW TO ESPALIER ... Have you ever wanted to learn how to get a plant to grow up a wall in an espalier? Lyngso Garden Materials will offer a clinic on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon on "The Art of Espalier." Instructor Arnie Cortez will address how to grow the two-dimensional form of an espalier, either for fruit, hedges or for decorative purposes.
