Fremont Christian rallies past Dragons in nonleague hoops

Andries Castellano hit a basket near the end of the third quarter and then followed that with a putback early in the fourth quarter to give host Mid-Peninsula a six-point edge early in the fourth quarter of what was a roller coaster of a nonleague boys basketball game Tuesday against Fremont Christian.

Unfortunately the Dragons couldn't keep Ramon Barragan from scoring or John Sanguinetti off the boards and eventually fell, 58-49.

Mid-Peninsula (3-5) takes a holiday break and then returns to host Design Tech in a PSAL contest on Jan. 5.

The Dragons held a 42-38 advantage with just over four minutes to play. The Warriors went on an 11-0 run to take control of the game and made their free throws down the stretch to hold on.

Nate Smith led Mid-Peninsula with 16 points. Miguel Najar and Ryan Burton each added 10.

Barragan led all scorers with 24 points. Sanguinetti added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Fremont Christian (5-3).
