Local soccer season has arrived: Gunn, M-A open with losses

Menlo-Atherton lost to visiting Andrew Hill, 2-1, in its season opener on Tuesday.

The Menlo-Atherton boys soccer team opened its season with a 2-1 loss to visiting Andrew Hill on Tuesday.

The Bears ended the Falcons season in last year's Central Coast Section's Division I playoffs by the same score.

M-A meets Homestead at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 as part of the Homestead Tournament. The Bears will also play North Monterey County and Alvarez in the tournament.

In another season opener, host Gunn dropped a 3-0 decision to Homestead on Tuesday.

The Titans travel to Half Moon Bay for a nonconference next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Woodside opens its season at Milpitas on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Palo Alto hosts Milpitas on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Menlo School travels to Terra Nova for a match next Wednesday at 7 p.m. Priory hosts KIPP Collegiate on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m., Sacred Heart Prep travels to Santa Cruz for a 6 p.m. game on Friday, Dec. 1.

Girls soccer

Menlo School opens its season with a home game against Sequoia at 2:45 p.m. Monday, the same day Palo Alto hosts Aragon at 3:30 p.m.

Pinewood hosts KIPP Collegiate in its season opener at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Sacred Heart Prep goes to Sequoia for a game next Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Woodside travels to South San Francisco for a match on Friday, Dec. 1. Priory opens at the Notre Dame San Jose tournament on Saturday, Dec. 2, Gunn goes to San Mateo for a 1 p.m. copntest on Satyurday, Dec. 2, and Castilleja hosts KIPP Collegiate on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
