The Palo Alto football team got the band back together and went on a mission Friday night, turning Homecoming into a celebration.

Jackson Chryst threw for three touchdowns and Paul Jackson III scored three touchdowns as the Vikings scored four times in the second half to pull away from Saratoga in a 42-21 SCVAL De Anza Division victory.

The Vikings (2-6, 2-2) host Los Altos on Senior Night next Friday at 7 p.m. with a chance to make the postseason party.

The way the season began for Paly, competing for a playoff spot was more of a pipe dream. It seems a bit more real these days.

With Chryst and Jackson III as healthy as they've been all year, the Vikings clicked offensively.

Juancio Henley was a major contributor for the Vikings in the first half. He caught a 42-yard pass from Chryst to open the scoring and then picked up 21 yards on a key run that led to Palo Alto's go-ahead touchdown, a Jackson III five-yard run.

Jackson III's 77-yard run in the second half gave Palo Alto a three-touchdown advantage over the Falcons.

Chryst also threw touchdowns of 60 yards to Paul Thie, and one-yard to Seattle Hmelar.

Kyle Mostofizadeh threw a touchdown pass of 28 yards to Jackson III.

Junior kicker Tyler Foug made all six PAT's, which was also a big difference in the contest.

The Vikings rushed for 275 yards, with Aiden Chang gaining 126 yards and Jackson III going for 111 yards.

Chryst was 7-of-13 for 167 yards and Mostofizadeh was 2-of-3 for 30 yards. The two quarterbacks combined to complete over 56 percent of their passes.
