Bay Area forecast: rain expected on Thursday

Wet weather will begin in the North Bay, spread to rest of the Bay Area in the afternoon

Rain is expected to fall in the Bay Area on Thursday and could help firefighters put out the several wildfires burning in the North Bay, National Weather Service officials said.

Rain is expect to start falling Thursday morning in the North Bay and spread south into the rest of the Bay Area by Thursday afternoon.

The North Bay is expected to receive a tenth- to three-tenths of an inch.

"That will definitely help the fire situation in the North Bay," meteorologist Brian Mejia said.

The rest of the region is forecast to receive less than two-tenths of an inch, according to weather service officials.

Commuters can expect very slick roads as the rain begins to fall. Weather service officials said clogged gutters and storm drains could cause problems too.

The article has a warning for commuters, but according to the weather forecast I just checked, Palo Alto should only get light showers and only between 11pm to 2am. If other cities are supposed to get rain during commute hours, the article would be more informative if they were named in the warning.
