Kelsey Bing recorded seven saves and Kristina Bassi scored the lone goal of the game, highlighting a team effort as the No. 12 Stanford field hockey team extended its win streak to four in beating visiting Pacific, 1-0, on Thursday night.
The Tigers (3-4) came out tough in the first half, peppering six shots on the Cardinal as Bing collected three of her saves on the day.
The second half was an electric one with Stanford putting the pressure on, taking eight of its 12 shots at Pacific throughout the period.
Nina Randolph also stepped in for another huge defensive save in the 43rd minute while Bing was a force in the cage with four more saves, including two close-range shots by Pacific's Alicia Munios.
Stanford's offensive pressure on the Tiger defense finally paid dividends in the 58th minute as Corinne Zanolli juked a Pacific defender to send a ball across the circle that ricocheted off to find Kristina Bassi, who banked a shot into the middle of the goal for the game-winner.
The Cardinal take to the road for three games against America East Conference opponents next week beginning with UMass-Lowell next Thursday.
