Corinne Zanolli has been named the America East Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for her standout play in a sweep of ranked opponents over the weekend, as announced by the conference Wednesday.
The freshman attacker was integral to the Cardinal offense over the weekend, including a career-best two goals against No. 17 Iowa including the game-winner in the 68th minute. Zanolli added another goal against UMass while compiling nine shots on the weekend, six on target for a .667 shots on goal percentage.
No. 2 Stanford continues its four-game home stint with matches against San Francisco on Friday and Yale on Sunday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
Friday's matchup against the Dons (2-3-1) is the first since 2007, when Stanford won 3-1 in nonconference play. The Cardinal owns a 19-0-0 all-time record against San Francisco, and kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.
Stanford returns to the field on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Yale, which travels to Stockton, California, on Friday to play Pacific. The Cardinal holds a 3-0-0 all-time record against the Bulldogs (5-0-0), who last played Stanford on Sept. 19, 2008 – Stanford won, 4-1.
The Cardinal (4-1-0) opened its home schedule last week with a 4-0 win against No. 10 Georgetown on Friday and a 7-0 thrashing of Navy on Sunday.
No. 1 Stanford (3-0) continues its six-match homestand with games against SMU (3-0) and Tulsa (0-1-1) on Thursday and Saturday.
Thursday's contest against the Mustangs starts at 8 p.m. and will air on Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Bay Area with Troy Clardy and Christopher Sullivan on the call. Saturday's date with the Golden Hurricane begins at 7 p.m.
