Tony Kelly resigns as Gunn football coach

Gunn High football coach Tony Kelly has resigned, reportedly due to health reasons, one week into the 2017 season.

Gunn athletic director Curt Johansen confirmed that Brandon Boyd has been named the acting head coach for Gunn's home game Friday at 7:30 p.m. against James Lick. Gunn lost its season opener on August 25 against Soquel, 28-25.

Kelly was hired prior to the 2016 season and guided the Titans, who were winless the previous season, to a 2-8 record.
