Kyra Carusa scored twice and goalie Alison Jahansouz recorded three saves as the second-ranked Stanford women's soccer team opened its season with a 4-0 nonconference victory over host Marquette on Friday night.

The Cardinal remains in Milwaukee and plays Wisconsin on Sunday.

Alison Jahandouz
Freshman Catarina Macario got the party started with a an unassisted goal early in the 36th minute. She picked up the rebound of a shot by Sacred Heart Prep grad Tierna Davidson and smoothly fired it in.

The highly-regarded Brazil native brought a lot of attention with her to Stanford and showed she has the talent to match. She was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI preseason team.

Macario took three shots in her 35 minutes and it was enough to make a lasting impression.

Carusa gave the Cardinal a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute after being set up by Jordan DiBiasi and Stanford established itself.

One key to victory was the play of Jahansouz, who stopped an early penalty kick to keep the match scoreless.

Carusa scored again, this time on an assist from Tegan McGrady, in the 72nd minute.

Mariah Lee also added a goal for the Cardinal, with an assist from Jaye Boissieri.
