USA National Girls Junior Olympics Roundup

The Stanford girls' water polo club team had eight of its nine teams finish among the top 15 in their divisions of the USA National Junior Olympics in Orange County, which finished Sunday.

In the Platinum Championship Division, the Stanford A 18U team beat Commerce Aquatics 13-8 to finish in 15th place. Gunn senior goalie Zoe Banks led the team, with contributions from Anna Rajaratnam, Maddie Pendolino, Maddie Higginson, Allison Sullivan Wu, Lauren Dillon, Kate Atherton, Izzy Mandema, Nadia Paquin, Gabi Matafora-Adams, Julia Hartmann, and Maddie Menard.

Woodside goalie Maya Srinavasan helped the Stanford A 16U team finish 12th. The rest of the team include Alison Berg, Cooper McKenna, Christina Kulick, Kara Jacobsen, Devon Ottinger, Madison Lewis, Courtney Lindholm, Claire Pisani, Annabel Facey, Sophie Golub, Megan LaCroix, and Annie Bisconti.

The Stanford a 14U team, which placed 14th, is comprised of : Sybelle Paulsen, Isabella Bachler, Eleanor Facey, Kate Mallery, Yaya Zlobinsky, Lexie Triantis, Ola Szczerba, Lucia Sarimsakci, Morgan Bruun-Jensen, Ana Mantellato Diaz, Mackenzie Lindholm, Anjali Kambham, and Jackie King.

Menlo Park's 12U team was 15th in the gold division.

The Stanford 10U Coed A team finished in 11th place while the Stanford B team was 12th in the Gold Division.

Stanford's 12U team, which included Paedrin Gillett, Fiorella Campbell, Quinn Healy, Erica Fenyo, Nina Albers, Scarlett Gamble, Elise Krupitzer, Isabella Sells, Pallavi Kambham, Megan Newby, Malia Chavinson, Natalie Sullivan Wu, Nyla Sharma, Riley Hocker, and Sophie Frolik, were second in the Gold Division.

In the Classic Division, Castilleja goalie Georgia Lewis, along with Emma Brezoczky, Claire Justman, Chrissy Steinmeier, Erin Kaprelian, Maddie Maxwell, Buffy Miksztal, Caley Mason, Sabrina Hall, Sarah Donato, Sarah Tom, Olivia Tobin, Gillian Bressie, and Eleni Kokinos, helped the Stanford B 18U team placed 13th in silver.

The Stanford B 14U team of Abena Sutchrema Ofori-Nyako, Ashley Penner, Cara Mason, Gabriella Lewis, Rusha Bhat, Caroline Potvin, Christy Feng, Evelyn Smith, Izzy Hinshaw, Kaavya Pichai, Keya Gupta, Muskaan Sahiwal, Siham Arsalane, and Yazmin Baroumand were eighth.

The 16U Stanford B team of Arushi Madan, Alicia Xu, Ashley Tom, Christina Reed, Claudia Opris, Eleanor Campbell, Isobel Taylor, Jenna Mukaled, Elise Walker, Kayla Lin, Maddie King, Rebecca Kim, June Vanderberghe, Natalie Knox, and Eliza Sandell finished 4-4 in the meet.

Sacred Heart Prep grad Maddy Johnston played with the 680 Red A 18U women's team that won the Platinum Division at the Junior Olympics.

680 WP outscored its opponents by a 93-29 margin in completing the tournament 7-0.
