Stanford 12U A boys finish strong, place fifth in JOs

The Stanford 12U A boys water polo team, coached by Peter Olson, finished fifth in the Platinum Division of the USA National Junior Olympics in Orange County last week.

The Stanford 12U B boys team, coached by Peter Simon, placed 17th in the Gold Division.

Stanford A finished 6-2 overall after winning its first three games by an average score of 12-3.

After losing its final group play contest, the 'A' team came back to win two straight and played for a chance in the semifinals. They lost a tough game to Greenwich A, which eventually finished third.

Stanford A beat Rose Bowl Red A 8-5 to place fifth.

The Stanford B team (3-4) lost a couple of close contests in group play, including a shootout, but regrouped to win its last two games, both by one goal, to claim 17th.

The Stanford A team is comprised by Luke Bachler, Charles Barman, Julien Chow, Wolfgang Edholm, Michael Fang, Hassen Hove, Jackson Kay, Tommy Kiesling, Rick Lundh, Patrick McCann, Luca Peralta, Harrison Rohlen and Jake Tsotadze.

The Stanford B team includes Jordan Affeld, Carl Crum, Tyler Deal, Nadav Efrat, Nelson Harris, Zachary Hill, Tyler Hogan, Justin Hou, Alex Kawaja, Luke Kirincich, Benjamin Lewis, William Moon, Randeep Nandal, Matthew Pistorino, and Ziv Weissman.

This information was somehow left out of last week's report on the boys Junior Olympics tournament. Palo Alto Online Sports regrets the oversight.
