Prep report: M-A tennis unbeaten in the PAL

 

Casey Morris outlasted Carlmont's Thomas Reznik, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, leading the Menlo-Atherton boys tennis team to a 6-1 victory over host Carlmont in a PAL match Thursday.

Jeffrey Jorgensen earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles and No. 4 Jake Andrew won, 6-1, 6-3, for the Bears (10-3, 8-0 PAL), who play at Aragon Tuesday in a 4 p.m. start.

The M-A doubles teams swept their matches, dropping just 10 games combined.

The top doubles team of Camillo Saueressig and Zach Ostrow won, 6-1, 6-2; Chris Iyer and Ammar Sefdari won, 6-4,6-1; and Kyle Conrad and Griffin Vossdef won, 6-2,6-0.

Girls lacrosse

Grace Tully scored three goals and Menlo-Atherton beat visiting Burlingame, 12-6, Thursday in a nonleague match.

Izzy Regonini and Bea Geaghan-Breiner each scored twice for the Bears (3-2), who host Palo Alto at noon Saturday in a nonleague contest.

M-A's Annie Payne added a goal and had two assists. M-A goalie Samantha Gamez had eight saves.

While the Panthers made M-A work, the Bears relied on strong defense from Dorothy Aldridge and excellent work in transition from Izzy Carhardt.
