The Stanford synchronized swimming team tuned up for the National Collegiate Championships by sweeping all routines Sunday at the West Collegiate Region Meet.

Clare McGovern captured solo with a score of 83.1333; Erica Slavin and Sandra Ortellado claimed the duet with a mark of 80.6667; Slavin, Ortellado and McGovern prevailed in trio by pointing 83.0667; and the Cardinal finished first and second in team.

In the latter, Marisa Tashima, Isabella Park, Rachel Hyon, Amanda Urke, Karen Li, Slavin, Ortellado and McGovern led the way with a total of 84.5667. The contingent of Elle Billman, Dylan Harding, Natalie Fletcher, Lily Randhawa and Gillian Brassil earned second with a score of 76.6500.

“The student-athletes did very well and the routines are cleaning up nicely,” said Cardinal coach Sara Lowe. “The work and focus the last two weeks showed in their performances, and they are motivated to work even harder in this last push to the championships.”

Stanford has two weeks to prepare for the Collegiate National Championships, March 22-25 in Columbus, Ohio. The Cardinal dethroned the 29-time champion Ohio State by six points last year in Florida to secure its eighth crown.
