A man who exposed himself to a woman in Palo Alto's Evergreen Park neighborhood on Monday morning didn't flee quickly enough to prevent the woman from taking a photo of him, police said.
The woman, who was in her 20s, was talking on her cellphone while standing at a parking lot near Park Avenue and El Camino Real around 11 a.m. when she saw the man walk past her heading west on Park Avenue, police said in a press release.
The man then turned around, walked toward the woman and made eye contact with her. The woman saw the man's pants were down to his thighs and he was masturbating in full view just 6 feet away from her, police said.
The woman cursed at the man and took a photo of him as he walked away east on Park, according to police.
She described the man as Hispanic and in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, around 170 pounds and with a pencil-thin mustache.
He wore a black jacket, yellow shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. He also wore a beanie that had black, gray and red stripes and carried a green backpack and brown grocery bag, police said.
Detectives are looking into whether Monday's encounter is connected with other indecent exposure cases in the city or neighboring communities, police said.
