With multiple fires burning in Northern California, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued an air quality advisory for the Bay Area through at least Wednesday, June 19, according to a Tuesday morning alert from the San Mateo County Department of Emergency Management.
Residents can expect smoky, hazy skies and the smell of smoke outdoors, the alert states. Air quality may be moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups.
The county offered the following safety tips:
- Check Air Quality Index (AQI): Stay informed about local air quality by using apps or websites.
- Limit Outdoor Activities: Reduce strenuous outdoor activities when air quality is poor.
- Use Air Purifiers: Keep indoor air clean by using air purifiers with HEPA filters.
- Close Windows and Doors: Keep your home sealed to prevent outside air from coming in.
