Gingerbread and TurkeyUploaded: Nov 21, 2016
Our kids are not very enthusiastic about Thanksgiving this year. Maybe it's because we aren't traveling anywhere. Maybe it is because there isn't candy (like Halloween) or gifts (like Christmas). Maybe it's because our regular play dates and classes are being postponed. And maybe it is because Thanksgiving means we are still a few weeks away from Christmas.
At first I searched for different Thanksgiving activities, decorations and crafts for them. But those made it even clearer that our kids just weren't very interested. So instead, I decided to follow their lead and also get into the Christmas spirit a little early this year. Last week we made a gingerbread house (and ate it) and started singing Christmas carols.
I hope our kids eventually become more excited about celebrating Thanksgiving. But, in the mean time, we will be spending this holiday season being thankful, giving, and spending time with family and friends. Who cares if the gingerbread house gets eaten before the turkey is cooked.
