Our Evening Run

Uploaded: Apr 20, 2021
In the fall of 2019 I started running again a few times a week. Our youngest had just started preschool so I had some kid-free time to get back into a regular running routine. However, my return to running didn’t last very long. When Covid hit, HIIT workouts and yoga were a better fit for me as I adjusted to our new normal.

I recently started regularly running again. But this time our son is joining me. We keep it very simple and just run around the neighborhood together. It is amazing how uplifting a short run can be. I’ve missed it. As our son’s schedule fills up with more and more activities, I hope we can continue to squeeze in these quick evening runs.

It is sometimes hard to see just how much our kids have grown up during the pandemic. We’ve missed so many milestone events due to Covid. But running again made me very aware of how much time has passed and how much our kids have grown up. Our son is now old enough to be a great running partner. Our middle child is now old enough to want the extra responsibility of being a mother’s helper (with her dad close by). And our youngest is now more than happy to play with her older sister while I go out for a run.

I think my days of running marathons are probably behind me, but I’m excited to once again add casual running back into my life.
