Help Pick My Next Blog Topic

Uploaded: Apr 5, 2017
As an experiment I am interested in readers ranking these three topics for their interest. If a topic is not of interest just leave it off the list

These are regional or broader topics, not Palo Alto specific

One, housing and school enrollment--how are they related

Two, how to reduce housing costs

Three, city council actions and the desires of current residents--looking at both sides of the relationship.

All of these topics have come up many times on Town Square

As this is an experiment, please just indicate interest or not in these topics with no other comments.

Thanks
Community.
What is it worth to you?

Two, Three, One

Very interested in all three. There are many relationships that impact Palo Alto and environs. Recognizing that potential school enrollments related to estimated students "generated" in all types of housing units is not included in standard EIR review of housing projects. It cannot be used as the basis for denial of projects. However, certainly it needs to be discussed and clearly PAUSD needs to figure out ways to accommodate all the students that arrive at their door steps. In public debates this issue is raised and the points made above are correct. There are also programmatic adjusts that schools can make if a crunch occurs: re-examining varied schedules to maximize use of classroom and school space, more on-line education options. Some districts have implemented or considered 3 or 3.5 year options for high school.

None of the above. They've been done many times in many posts.

I asked for interest or not in the choices I listed without additional comments. If you want to respectfully explain your top priority among the three topics, go for it.

The housing cost problem solution WAS in the first sentence:

SL

Sorry if I confused you. The topic is how to reduce housing costs fior people who want to move here or stay here. I think it is disrespectful to tell other people to leave the area. If they want to be here. They can choose to do so as can you. Let them and the companies decide. But since people and companies do want to be here, I thought the ongoing work on how to reduce the cost of new housing might be interesting to readers.

One, two, three.

First priority - Two.

Second priority - One

Three is a black hole and there would be no accountable outcomes to this discussion.
