Baylands Boardwalk Rotting Away
Original post made by Parent on Sep 2, 2013
Another family favorite in Palo Alto is going the way of the Palo Alto Bowl and the Mitchell Park Wading Pool. Just a fading memory.

Hey, I'm with you on this. In fact, I posted sometime ago about this, politely requesting that any local companies/prominent SV individuals in Palo Alto would be much appreciated if they could provide funds to the City of PA to either repair/renovate or install a new boardwalk. I think the Baylands are an asset to the City and wooden infrastructure there should be in good and safe shape and not be an eyesore.

Please remember that Palo Alto was in the red for four years, and many services were cut back--police, mosquito abatement, etc.

In the last five years or so I have seen makeovers at many city parks where play equipment, etc. has been replaced when there was nothing apparently wrong with the old. The boardwalk is enjoyed by many people, it is now dangerous, and I would rather that they did this before replacing any play structure that has nothing wrong with it.
What would happen if someone was seriously injured on this boardwalk? It is not only children who use it?
