Palo Alto launches contest for bike bridge design

Palo Alto leaders want their new bike bridge to be many things -- elegant, eco-friendly, unique, eye-catching, and above all affordable. On Monday, the council decided that the best way to get to the winning look is through a design competition.

Wish they had put up a design contest for the Mitchell Park library instead of that fugly money sucking albatross that has been under contraction forever.

The point is that this will be just another bridge over 101. If it works well and is completed in a timely fashion, it will be invisible. If it fails to work well or takes too long, it will be another Mitchell Park library.
