Dewatering after October

Original post made by Anonymous, Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Nov 1, 2013

Anyone else notice the water is still running into the drain on the 2100 block of Bryant in front of the church? Groundwater pumping is only allowed from April to October.

This has been going on and off ( mostly on) since 2009-- what an outrageous loss and waste of water. Apparently this water is coming from an aquifer beneath the property that Larry Page is building his compound on.

Question: will Larry Page's house and all its outbuildings and landscaping EVER be completely finished? It has already been nearly five years.

Another question: Once construction is completed, will this pumping of water continue forever after?

Yes, this insanity continues past the legal cutoff. I presume that the City approved a waiver, but who knows? For deep background, read the 2010 article, "Basement groundwater pumping raises concerns - Experts question safety of massive groundwater pumping for basements in Palo Alto." Web Link

It is not the Page project. It is the project at 2121 Bryant. This appears to be another one of the City's capricious enforcement choices.

Isn't that all part of Page's compound. If you look at Google Earth you can see that there are four contiguous lots with basements excavated.

That's why sea level is rising.

(Actually when you pump too much water out, the ground sinks and it just looks like sea level is rising.)
