Egg Fight/Vandalism at Mitchell Park
Original post made by Sandy, Midtown, on Oct 25, 2013
THis morning Mitchell Park was a total mess, with eggs splattered everywhere and empty egg cartons littering the landscape. Several city employees were picking up the trash and doing their best to rake up egg shells. As I walked behind a little girl and her grandmother, I heard the child ask why anyone would waste food like that, and why they would want to dirty the world. Good questions. I wonder if the participants in the egg fight have some good answers. If any parents see their kid's clothing from last night all egg splattered, I hope they will know that their child participated in this vandalism. I also hope that the parents will march their kid to a food bank or soup kitchen so that they can volunteer. Then the little girl's questions may resonate a bit with the vandals. (Parents, don't tell me that your kid already does required community service. This goes beyond what will look good on the college app.) And by the way, with social media, if the authorities are interested in tracking down the vandals, it's probably all out there waiting for a little detective work.
